Fig & Olive Brings Great Happy Hour to Melrose Place
8490 Melrose Place
Fig & Olive on Melrose Place is one of West Hollywood’s latest and greatest Happy Hours. The space is beautiful, open, and airy; with potted Olive Trees decorating the room. The patio is pet-friendly and the people watching is as good as it gets in this part of the city. The Olive Oils are simply out of this world and available for sale.
Here’s the Deal
Happy Hour: Monday-Thursday 5 p.m.-7 p.m, $8 specialty cocktails and wines, $3.50 beers and a special “Apertivo” menu of small bites.
What to drink: Mimi had a lovely Caterina Zardini Pinot Grigio and I had a great Delas Grenache/Syrah blend. Beers on tap for $3.50 are Mission IPA, Moretti and Sierra Nevada. Cocktails include a red and white Sangria, a Piscine and other specialty drinks.
What to eat: The crostinis are mindblowing! They are 3 for $5 of 6 for $9.50. We had the Shrimp, Avocado, Cilantro & Tomato crostini and the Mushroom, Truffle, Artichoke, Scallion and Parmesan crostini and both were out of this world. They also have 4 other crostinis that sound equally delcious. You can get a mixture of them, or all of one or two – whatever sounds good to you.
When you sit down, you are served a complimentary plate of olives, a pesto tapenade and artisan bread – which is delicious.
We also had the caesar salad-which was good, but here is a tip: It comes in two sizes – the $9 and the $13. The $9 is plenty big enough for two people to share.
Bartenders to meet: Our bartender was the lovely Lauren, an actress who really knows her stuff.
Parking: There is a Valet, but there are always metered parking spot on Melrose Place just east of La Cienega.
