Porta Via’s Bar Room Happy Hour in Beverly Hills
424 N. Canon Dr.
We stumbled upon Porta Via’s Happy Hour and were delighted to find their Bar Room, a swanky space with a large green marble bar and a lovely terrace area with a communal table flanked by Balinese sofas and chairs that seats about 10 people. Inside, there are two small rooms to the other side of the bar decorated in deep jewel tones and gray leather banquettes that are inviting.
Here’s the Deal
Happy Hour: Monday-Saturday 5 p.m.-8 p.m, $6 specialty cocktails and wines, $4 beers and 1/2 off the food on the bar menu.
This is a “Secret” happy hour because the bartender told us the owner will never print a menu with the rock bottom low prices.
What to drink: Generous Absolut martinis for $6, a good Pinot Grigio and a good Cabernet are also both $6 each.
What to eat: We had the ceviche for $4.50 and it was great. The $5 fish taco comes with three tacos with chunky pieces of fish and great salsa. The calamari was $4.50 and delicious. Other things on the bar menu that looked terrific were the grilled pizza for $5, parmesan stuffed dates wrapped with bacon for $3, grilled chicken skewers for $5, a charcuterie board for $6, and sliders and skirt steak skewers each for $6. You can also order a chopped or Caesar salad off the main menu for $11.
Bartenders to meet: We met a tall, beautiful blonde named Britnee. She was pleasant efficient and very knowledgeable about the menu.
Parking: It’s pretty easy to find parking spots along Bedford and around the corner on Crescent at the meters. However, if all else fails on Crescent just south of Brighton park in the lot behind Caffe Roma for $6
